Prilep is a home of Itar Pejo, witty and wise viileger from Mariovo, imortalised by Macedonian writer Stale Popov.
His statue is erected on the place where 200 years ago was public water tap and where he usually visited, on his trips to Prilep.
Through Pejo, and his escepades is portrayed the wit and wisdom of the Macedonian people, sometimes the basic need of survival under the Ottomans.
